2 Putting the Telephone into Operation
Safety notes
Caution: It is essential to read the safety information in Chapter 1 before preparing
the telephone for use.
Checking the contents of the package
The package contains:
− a telephone − a receiver
− a telephone connection cable − a helix cable
− a tabletop support − an operating manual
− four batteries, type AAA
Connecting the receiver
Plug the short end of the helix cable in the socket at the bottom of the receiver. Then plug the
long end in the HANDSET jack. Feed the cable through the cable duct outwards.
Inserting the batteries
Insert the batteries before connecting the telephone to the telephone network. Always use
AAA Alkaline type batteries. The batteries are required for the caller number display, hands-
free feature and other telephone functions.
Pay attention that the telephone is not connected to the telephone network when
inserting or changing the batteries.
Change the batteries when the icon appears in the display. All four batteries must then
be replaced so that the caller number display and handsfree feature work properly. When the
batteries are discharged, the display remains dark and the handsfree feature does not work.
Connecting the telephone
Connect the telephone connection cable enclosed to the telephone line socket and the LINE
jack on the underside of the telephone. Feed the cable through the cable duct either upwards
or downwards out of the telephone housing.
Mounting the tabletop support
If you want to have the telephone on a table, you must mount the tabletop support supplied. In-
sert the two top clips in the slots provided for them. Then latch the bottom clip in place. The
slots provided for the tabletop support are indicated on Page 21.
