6. Turn the control knob 7 to your chosen

setting:
“HIGH”: For cooking at the highest
temperature
“LOW”: For cooking at the lowest
temperature
“AUTO”: To begin cooking at the highest
temperature and thereafter at a low
temperature
The indicator light will 6 come on and
the appliance will begin heating up.

6.2 Checking whether the food is cooked

Avoid lifting the lid of the pot while cooking
is in progress. Every time you open the lid
adds to the necessary cooking time.
You should therefore check that the food is
cooked only towards the end of the cooking
time.

6.3 Ending operation

1. At the end of the cooking time, turn the

control knob 7 to “OFF”.

Warning! Be aware that the
surfaces of the appliance can
become hot in operation:
– While the appliance is in

operation, take care to touch
only the lid handle 2 and the
cooker 4 handles;

– While the cooker 3 is in use,

always use potholders or oven
gloves to grasp it.

2. Remove the cooking pot 3 and the

cooked food.

3. Clean the appliance carefully after use

(see “10. Cleaning” on page 12).

6.4 Thermal cut-out

The appliance is protected against
overheating. The appliance will switch off
automatically if at any time there is no more
water in the base 3 and the temperature has
become too high.
If this happens, disconnect the appliance
from the power supply and allow it to cool
down.
You can subsequently start the appliance up
again in the usual way.

7. Hints on cooking with the slow cooker

Slow cooking or “gentle cooking” is one of
the healthiest ways of cooking food.
It is actually cooked below boiling point, but
for a number of hours. This means that
nothing can burn or become overcooked.
The food doesn’t boil vigorously, it
“simmers” slowly, so that flavours and spices
have time to develop to their full effect.

7.1 Suitable food for the slow cooker

This slow cooker is particularly suitable for
meat, especially tougher cuts. The long
cooking time makes then as soft as butter.
Pulses such as beans, peas or lentils also
cook very well in the slow cooker.
Other hard vegetables such as potatoes,
carrots, kohlrabi, etc., are also well suited to
slow cooking.
