Connecting the Data Cable to the SBU 5000

Requirement:
☐ The battery must be compatible with the backup inverter (see Planning Guidelines "Increased
Self-Consumption - Sunny Backup/Sunny Home Manager" at www.SMA-Solar.com).
1. Ensure that the SBU 5000 has been disconnected from any voltage sources (see technical
description of the SBU 5000).
2. Push the left-hand rubber plug out of the rubber connection area ("Communication for
Multi-device Connection", see the technical description of the SBU 5000; Section 6.4.3).
3. Remove the terminator from the ComSyncOut socket.
4. Lead the black RJ45 cable included in the delivery through the rubber connection area and plug
it into the ComSyncOut socket.
5. Seal the rubber connection area with a rubber plug.
6. Connect the black RJ45 cable to the communication input terminal of the battery (see installation
manual of the lithium-ion battery).
7. Ensure that the communication bus is equipped with a terminating resistor at the end.
