Connecting the DC Cables
1. Ensure that the DC connection requirements described by the battery manufacturer
(e.g. external fuses) are met (see installation manual of the lithium-ion battery).
2. Connect the DC cables to the backup inverter (for DC connection, see the technical description
of the SBU 5000 / Sunny Backup System S).
Configuring the Sunny Backup System
1. Switch the battery on (see installation manual of the lithium-ion battery).
2. Start the Quick Configuration Guide and configure the backup system in accordance with the
backup inverter manual (see technical description of the SBU 5000 / Sunny Backup System S).
Set the following parameters for the battery:
• Select the parameter BatTyp and set to battery type Li-Ion. This deactivates the battery
management of the backup inverter and the battery is controlled by its own battery
management.
• Select the parameter BatChrgVtgMan and set to the nominal charge voltage (for nominal
charge voltage, see installation manual of the lithium-ion battery).
• Select the parameter BatChrgCurMax and set to the charge current limitation (for charge
current limitation, see installation manual of the lithium-ion battery).
• Select the parameter BatDiChgVtg and set to the final cut-off voltage (for final cut-off
voltage, see installation manual of the lithium-ion battery).
• Select the parameter BatDiChgVtgSt and set to the reactivation voltage (activation voltage
after disconnection resulting from final cut-off voltage (hysteresis), see the installation manual
of the lithium-ion battery).
• Select the parameter BatDiChgCurMax and set to the discharge current limitation
(for discharge current limitation, see installation manual of the lithium-ion battery).
Switching on the Sunny Backup System
1. Switch the battery on (see installation manual of the lithium-ion battery).
2. Switch the Sunny Backup system on (see the technical description of the SBU 5000 /
Sunny Backup System S).
