Connecting the Data Cable to the SBU 2200
Figure 2:
Communication wiring overview
Additionally required material (not included in the scope of delivery):
☐ 1 data cable Cat5e FTP patch cable with RJ45 plugs
Requirement:
☐ The battery must be compatible with the backup inverter (see Planning Guidelines "Increased
Self-Consumption - Sunny Backup/Sunny Home Manager" at www.SMA-Solar.com).
1. Ensure that the SBU 2200 has been disconnected from any voltage sources (see the technical
description of the Sunny Backup System S).
2. Remove the feed-through unit from the enclosure opening ("SBU 2200 and Automatic Switch Box S",
see technical description of the Sunny Backup System S, Section 7.5.1).
3. Thread the data cable through an opening in the inner rubber insert. Allow sufficient cable
length to reach the SyncOut connection socket.
4. Lead the data cable from the outside into the enclosure and plug into the SyncOut connection
socket.
5. Replace the feed-through unit including rubber insert in the enclosure opening.
6. Connect the data cable to the terminal of the battery communication input (see installation
manual of the lithium-ion battery).
7. Ensure that the communication bus is equipped with a terminating resistor at the end.
