General
General Some manufacturers of solar modules stipulate that the module must be grounded. The
module can be grounded at either the positive or negative pole.
The ‘Grounding Kit Fronius IG’ installation set allows simple module grounding in the DC
junction boxes 15 - 30 or 40 / 60 using an ground fuse.
As a rule, all the installation procedures described below can be performed in every type
of generator terminal box. In these installation instructions, the installation of the ‘Groun-
ding Kit Fronius IG’ is described in detail for the DC junction box 15 - 30 and the DC
junction box 40 / 60.

Functional principal when grounding the solar module to the negative pole
WARNING! An electric shock can be fatal. Danger from DC voltage in solar
modules.
The inverter’s insulation monitoring is deactivated when the solar modules are
grounded.

Ensure that grounded solar modules are designed so that they are isola-
ted according to Protection Class II
- Place the relevant safety sticker in a clearly visible place on the photovol-
taic system
- Set the inverter so that an error message is displayed if the fuse trips.
