Type: MPZ−1−24DC−SGH−6−SW
1 Method of operation and use
The MPZ−...−6−SW has been designed for generating 6+1
analogue nominal values for Festo proportional valves.
The MPZ−...−6−SW is a setpoint value generator. Six referĆ
ence or setpoint voltages can be preset by means of rotary
potentiometers.
The output of the MPZ−...−6SW provides constantly the
voltage which is actuated via a digital controller.
The nominal values SP1 ... SP6 have priority. SP1 has the
highest, SP6 the lowest priority.
If none of the six nominal value voltages is actuated, the
output will supply the voltage which is specified at the
external input.
2 Conditions of use

Only trained personnel with suitable qualification are
allowed to fit and commission in accordance with the
operating instructions.
Malfunctions will occur if the device is not used
correctly. Make sure that the following specifications
are always observed.
ć Compare the maximum values specified in these operĆ
ating instructions with those of your actual application
(e.g. voltage, temperatures, pressure).
ć Take into account the ambient conditions at your
location.
ć Make sure the device is operated with correctly prepaĆ
red compressed air without aggressive media.
ć Please comply with national and local safety laws and
regulations.
ć Remove all transport packing such as protective wax,
foils (polyamide), caps (polyethylene), cardboard boxes
(except for the sealing elements of the pneumatic
connections).
ć The packing is intended for recycling (except for oiled
paper which must be disposed of ).
ć Use the product in its original state. Unauthorized
modification is not permitted.

. Wire up in accordance with connection diaĆ
gramm Fig. 1, Fig. 2 or Fg. 3.
· The screen of the connecting cable to the setpoint
value receiver (e.g. MPZ− ... or MPPE−...) should only be
connected at one end. Screening connection:
At the end nearest to the setpoint value receiver.
· Do not install the lines to an external setpoint value
potentiometer adjacent to main power cables.
· Screening of the lines to external setpoint value setting
devices (e.g. PLC) should only be connected at one end.
Screening connection:
Terminal 24 or earth potential (PE).
5 Commissioning
Please note
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
ć If the operating voltage of 30 V DC is exceeded, the
controller will be damaged.
· Ensure that the DC supply voltage is between
20Ă...Ă30 V, otherwise the functioning of the
MPZ−...−6−SW cannot be garanteed.
ć If the setpoint value is set externally:
· Only apply positive voltages between 0 ... +10ĂVĂDC
to the external setpoint value input (terminal 22).
Proceed as follows:
· Advance setpoint value potentiometers SP1 ... SP6
sufficiently far that the currently selected output
voltages U
W
out
are available (connection 42).
6 Operation and function
Please note
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
If two setpoint values are activated at the same time,
the MPZ−...−6−SW will generate the set−point voltage
value of the higher priority (see table).

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
When switching from one setpoint value to another:
· Make sure that the value with the lower priority is
activated,
ć before a preceding setpoint value of higher
priority becomes inactive;
ć until a subsequent setpoint value of higher
priority has become active.
Otherwise, MPZ−...−6WS emits the voltage of the
external setpoint value during the switching process.
