Function and application
In the pressureless status, the spring force acts on the internal mechanical system.
As a result, the contact profiles are pressed with great force against the free
surfaces of the guide rail - the slide is held in place.
Pressurizing at the supply port
6 results in the pressure force counteracting the
spring force and the contact profiles release from the guide rail - the slide is freely
movable.
DGC(I)-25/32, EGC-80
DGC(I)-40/50, EGC-120/185
Fig. 2
The clamping unit at the linear drive is intended for the following application:
– In the case of DGC(I)-25/32 and EGC-80:
holding the effective load in place (e.g. with vertical mounting orientation).
Foreseeable misuse:
Braking of a movement is not permissible. Increased wear leading to complete
failure is possible.
In the event of sudden pressure failure, further use of the clamping unit is per-
missible only if followed by a functional test (
Operation).
– For EGC-120/185 and DGC(I)-40/50:
braking of a motion sequence is permissible under certain operating conditions
(
Technical data).

Requirements for product use
Note
Incorrect handling can lead to malfunctioning.
• The instructions of the DGC(I)/EGC user manual must be observed for safe
use of the product.
The technical data of the linear drive with clamping unit
DGC(I)/EGC-...-...H...-PN may restrict the specifications for the DGC(I)/EGC
linear drive in the operating instructions.
Note
When used in safety-oriented applications, additional measures are required
dependent on the required safety level. These measures must be established in
the risk assessment of the machine.
• Make sure that, after pressurization of the clamping unit, no uncontrolled move-
ments can occur at the linear drive.
To ensure a sufficiently short reaction time for clamping, a suitable valve must
be selected for the air vent (
catalogue specifications).
• Use the product without any unauthorized modifications.
• Note the warnings and instructions on the product and in the relevant operating
instructions.

Installation
For DGC(I)-50-KF-YSR(W)-1H-PN:
• Observe the revised space of the shock ab-
sorber.
The value is: d = 47.3 ... 56 mm.
Fig. 3
• Make sure there is sufficient space for the pneumatic connections as well as
their tubing connections.
1. Remove the blanking screw from the supply port
6 to be used on each clamp-
ing unit.
2. Insert a push-in fitting into the supply port
6.
The tightening torque is 0.5 Nm.
Note
When changing the supply port:
• Insert the blanking screw into the open supply port
6.
The tightening torque is 0.5 Nm.
• Secure and seal the fitting with Loctite 222
