The DADB bellows are intended to protect the cylinder piston rod from dust,
shavings, oils, fats and petrol.
Information
For already mounted bellows, observe section 5.
In order to mount the bellows, you will require a cylinder with an extended
piston rod. A cylinder with an extended piston rod can be identified with the
characteristic K8/...E in the type code of the cylinder.

1)
For DSNU-... :
-S10/-S11, the operating characteristics change to a minor extent.
-Q/-MH no bellows are permissible.
2)
With ESNU-… the spring return force changes to a minor extent. The bellows function here
as a compression spring and tension spring.
3)
The number is dependent on the stroke length ordered.
4)
For DNC-.../DSBx-... :
-S10/-S11/-U/-L, the operating characteristics change to a minor extent.
-Q/-KP/-C, no bellows are permissible.
-TT/-T3 the temperature range of the bellows (−10 °C ... +80 °C) must be considered.
2. Preassembly
13102d_4
Pull the first bellows 5 into
the groove on the connec-
tion 1.
13102d_5
Pull the bellows 5 into the
groove on the adapter 6.
13102d_6
Pull the bellows 5 into the
groove on the adapter 6.
Repeat the last two steps until the last bellows 5 are mounted.
3. Mounting
3a. For DADB-S1-...
13102d_7
Place the O-ring 4
in the
connection 1.
Place the O-ring 9 in the
end piece 7.
13102d_8
Screw the connection 1 on-
to the thread on the bearing
cap (B) until it meets re-
sistance from the O-ring 4.
Screw the connection 1 fur-
ther in order to position the
pressure compensation
hole (A) (max. ½ turn).
3b. For DADB-V6-32/-63/-80/-100-...
13102d_9
Place the O-ring 4
in the
connection 1.
Place the O-ring 9 in the
end piece 7.
13102d_10
Position the pressure com-
pensation opening (A).
Press the connection 1 on-
to the neck of the bearing
cap (C) up to the stop
5)
.
Tighten the threaded
pins 2. Comply with the
permissible tightening
torque (
section 6).
3c. For DADB-V6-40/-50-...
13102d_11
Place the O-ring 4
in the
connection 3.
Place the O-ring 9 in the
end piece 7.
13102d_12
Screw the connection 1 on-
to the pre-assembled con-
nection 3.
5)
Extra force is necessary here! Place the drive vertically if possible on the end cap and press
hard with both hands.
13102d_13
Position the pressure com-
pensation opening (A).
Press the connections 3/1
onto the neck of the bearing
cap up to the stop (C)
5)
.
Tighten the threaded
pins 2. Comply with the
permissible tightening
torque (
section 6).
4. Final assembly
13102d_14
Press the pre-assembled
end piece 7 over the piston
rod (D) of the cylinder
5)
.
Tighten the threaded pin 8.
Comply with the permissible
tightening torque
(
section 6).
13102d_15
Pull the last bellows 5 into
the groove in the end
piece 7.
5. Connection, pneumatic
Information
For attachment of the cylinder:
Not every cylinder accessory is permitted when the bellows are used.
Please select the corresponding accessories from our catalogue
(
www.festo.com/catalogue
).
The assembled bellows are a leakage-free system. The supply and exhaust air
of the bellows is ducted via a pressure compensation hole (A).
13102d_16
The
pressure
compensation
hole (A) in the connection 1 is
necessary for the exchange of
air.
Note
To avoid undesired media being sucked in:
Make the tubing connection to the pressure compensation hole (A) for the
supply air and exhaust air (
section 6).
Use only the permissible fittings and tubes. Please select the correspond-
ing accessories from our catalogue (
www.festo.com/catalogue
).
Note
Excessive pressure in the bellows can in extreme cases cause the bellows 5
to become unbuttoned.
The resulting pressure in the bellows is defined largely by the travel
speed v [m/s] of the drive and the length l [m] of the connected tube.
Use the recommended tube length, which can be seen in the following di-
agrams.
