The compensating element 4 is intended to be used for backlash-free con-
nection of the guide unit 1.
The backlash-free connection is only required for certain cylinders (e.g.
DNCE, DNCI) in order to attain the specified positioning accuracy
(

).
3. Mounting instructions
Caution
Beware of unexpected component movement!
This could result in injury.
Only mount and/or dismantle in an unpressurised state and ensure the
power supply is switched off.
Note
In order to avoid operative malfunctions:
Keep applying the lubricant film to the guide rods.
Lubricate the guide rods with the permissible lubricating grease where ne-
cessary (
spare parts catalogue
www.festo.com/spareparts
).
Avoid touching the guide rods, as traces of hand perspiration will result in
surface corrosion.
1)
The spacer disc 3 is only required for EADC-V1-40.
4. Mounting the guide unit 1
14560d_3
Place the cylinder (A) on the
guide unit 1 as shown.
Tighten the screws 2. Ob-
serve the permitted tighten-
ing torque M
A
.
14560d_4
Turn the threaded coupling
(B) onto the piston rod (C)
until the desired dimension
X is reached.
14560d_6
14560d_5
Tighten the lock nut (D)
with the spanner (E).
Hold the threaded coupling
(B) in place with the
spanner (F).
Observe the permitted tigh-
tening torque M
A
.
Check the dimension X and correct if necessary.
5. Backlash-free mounting of the guide unit 1 with compensating ele-
ment 4
14560d_7
Unscrew the screws (H).
2)
Dismantle the ring (I) and
the threaded coupling (B).
14560d_8
Pull the plate (J) with the
guide rods out of the hous-
ing (K) of the guide unit 1.
14560d_9
Place the cylinder (G) on the
guide unit 1 as shown.
Tighten the screws 2. Ob-
serve the permitted tighten-
ing torque M
A
.
14560d_10
Push the ring (I) over the
piston rod (C) of the cylinder
(G).
Turn the threaded coupling
(B) onto the piston rod (C).
14560d_11
For
EADC-V1-40:
Insert the spacer disc 3
and the compensating ele-
ment 4 into the threaded
coupling (B).
For EADC-V1-32/-50/-63:
Only insert the compensat-
ing element 4 into the
threaded coupling (B).
14560d_12
Adjust the dimension Z by
screwing the threaded
coupling (B) in or out.

14560d_13
Tighten the lock nut (D) with
the spanner (E). Hold the
threaded coupling (B) in
place with the spanner (F)
(do not rotate).
Observe the permitted
tightening torque M
A
.
Check the dimension Z and
correct if necessary.
2)
More force may be required as the screws (H) are secured with adhesive 5. To avoid lateral
forces dismantle in a retracted state.
14560d_14
Move the cylinder (G) to its
retracted end position.
Align the threads in the
ring (I) horizontally.
Apply the supplied screw
locking agent 5 to the
screws (H).
Tighten the screws (H). Observe the permitted tightening torque M
A
.
Observe the curing time for the adhesive 5 (24 hours at 20°C).
