Function and application
The vacuum generator type OVEM is designed for generating vacuum. With the vacuum generated and
by means of suction grippers a force is built up with which work items can be transported. The vacuum
generator is available with different pneumatic and electric switching functions.
The set nominal value for the generated vacuum is monitored by means of an integrated pressure
sensor. If the nominal value is reached or not reached as a result of incorrect functions (e.g. leakage,
work item fallen down), the pressure sensor outputs an electrical signal. Monitoring of the vacuum is
the basis for the air−save function of the vacuum generator (è chapter 2.4 Method of operation of the
air−save function LS).
The air−save function of the vacuum generator −CE/−CO is activated at the factory. The air−save function
can be switched off (è chapter 6.3.4).
The compressed air supply is controlled via an integrated solenoid valve. The solenoid valve is available
with one of two diferent switching functions NC/NO. The vacuum is generated as soon as the vacuum
generator is pressurized with compressed air and the voltage is switched on depending on the
switching function of the solenoid valve for the compressed air supply (NC: −CE, −CN) or switched off
(NO: −OE, −ON).
With a second integrated solenoid valve, a reject pulse is generated when the vacuum is switched off in
order that the work item can be removed from the suction nozzle and in order to reduce the vacuum a
soon as possible.
